General Admissions Information

Eligibility Criteria

• Master of Design (M.Des) with Pathways: Fashion Design / Textile Design:
  • 16 years of education from HEC recognized Institutes / Universities in Fashion, Textile or in the relevant field with a minimum of 2.5 CGPA or Equivalent.
  • PIFD will conduct an aptitude test followed by an interview. Aptitude test will designed to evaluate the candidate's knowledge about the design field as well as his/her creative skills.
  • The applicants can be fresh fashion and textlie graduates, academia and industry professionals who are self-motivated and have the aptitude to become leaders in the field with innovative and sustainable solutions for the future.
  • The portfolio must comprise of at least two research projects reflecting in the candidate's thought process, creative concepts/ideas visually and their technical translation in physical form.
  • Deficiency courses will be offered as per PIFD Policy. (As per HEC Graduate Policy, a student is required to take 6-9 Credit Hours of deficiency courses before enrolling in the M. Des Programme).
  
  
• Master of Science (M.Sc) in Design Management with Pathways: Fashion / Textile:
  • 16 years of education from HEC recognized Institutes / Universities in Fashion / Textile, Marketing / Management or in the relevant field with a minimum of 2.5 CGPA or Equivalent.
  • PIFD will conduct an aptitude test followed by an interview.
  • Deficiency courses will be offered as per PIFD Policy. (As per HEC Graduate Policy, a student is required to take 6-9 Credit Hours of deficiency courses before enrolling in the MSc in Design Management Programme).
  
  
• M.Phil Art and Design Education:
  • A candidate seeking admission in M.Phil Degree Program must have sixteen years of education or 4 years education after F.A. / F.Sc. / A-Level or equivalent as per HEC Guidelines/ Degree issued by HEC recognized HEI/DAIs/University with at least Second Division / CGPA 2.50 in the degree on the basis of which admission is requested, after qualifying PIFD Admission Entry Test followed by an Interview of Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD),Lahore.
  • Applicants who have already qualified Graduate Assessment Test (GAT) - General Conducted by National Testing Service / GRE (General) Type Test will be exempted from PIFD Admission Entry Test only. The Result Card of GAT (General) / GRE (General) Type Test will remain valid for two years from the date of test.
  • If the course(s) studied by a candidate in his / her previous degree (on the basis of which admission is requested) do not provide adequate background for the degree program of study, he/she may be required to make up the deficiency by taking additional course(s) as determined by the respective Department. Deficiency courses should be completed in 1 year after getting admission in M.Phil. Art and Design Education program after the completion of required deficiency courses a student will commence their M.Phil. Art and Design Education degree.
  • The successful candidates in entry test with a Arts or Design background are advised to appear for interviews with a Portfolio consisting of 20 JPEG images which should include 10 of the applicant’s own art or design work + 10 of applicant’s students’ work (Size of images: A4 digital size, no larger than 150 DPI, i.e. 1240 x 1754 pixels) in a CD / DVD / USB Stick
    OR
    Applicants with a non-Arts and Design background should submit a writing sample, sample lesson plans, course outlines or curriculum document in online application form but will appear for interview.
  
  

Note:

The admissions shall be made on open inter-se-merit based on the existing admissions policy / Regulations relating to MS/M.Phil. One seat may be reserved for disabled students in each programme. If the seat remains vacant or no candidate will apply against the qouta for Students with Disabilities, the vacant seat may be filled on open merit basis. Existing Admission Criteria would be followed.
