Higher Education Institutions play a significant role for the establishment of research activities and training of stakeholders of the HEIs. Keeping this in view, the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization was established in July, 2021 in Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD) in compliance with the directives of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

Introduction

Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), is an initiative of HEC. ORIC aims to create a platform for students/teachers/researchers to ensure the impact of research and to sow seeds of entrepreneurship among graduates. ORIC shall guarantee that all research programs and policies reflect the core values of academic freedom, professional integrity and ethical conduct and full compliance with all policies, legal requirements and operational standards of the institute.

Mission

To play a leading role as an institute in design research, innovation and commercialization that is internationally relevant and has a direct influence on industrial and socio-economic development

Objectives:

  • To support the development of strategy for research directions and policies of the Institute.
  • To improve integration of design research and art education at all levels of the Institute.
  • To ensure the use of mastery elements of art and design in research.
  • To help in producing creative work that demonstrate innovation in concepts and materials.
  • To interpret design research and art education for the betterment and benefit of the society.
  • To improve and strengthen institution-industry relationships.
  • To promote entrepreneurship, art education-extension and commercialization activities that improve and support the economy.
  • To promote and improve multi-disciplinary research initiatives.
