PIFD inaugurated its first International Design Conference with an opening ceremony addressed by the Vice Chancellor, PIFD and Chief Guest for the day, Mr Kashif Ashfaq, CEO ChenOne Pakistan. The conference commenced with the first session, “Fashion and Global Trade,” chaired by Mr. Azfar Hasan, CEO Matrix & Lulusar, featuring keynote presentations by Prof. Dr. Wessie Ling (UK) and Prof. Dr. Mooi Wah Kian (Malaysia). The second session, titled “Trade Wars and Wardrobes: The Impact of Tariffs on Fashion Markets,” was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mooi Wah Kian and featured keynote speakers Dr. Subrona Sarkar Nawadir (Bangladesh), Prof. Dr. Asif Mahbub Karim (Malaysia), Mr. Alberto Saccavini (Italy), and Ms. Rafia Syed, Director General, TDAP Punjab. The day concluded with the third session, a dynamic panel discussion moderated by Ms. Khadija Hassan, with distinguished panelists including Prof. Hina Tayyaba Khalil, Vice Chancellor PIFD, Prof. Dr. Wessie Ling (UK), Mr. Alberto Saccavini (Italy), Mr. Kashif Ashfaq, CEO ChenOne, Ms. Resham Shehzad, Arshad Group, Mr. Azfar Hasan, CEO Matrix Sourcing, and Mr. Khawaja Belal Ahmed, CEO Ammar Textiles. The opening day of the International Design Conference offered rich, thought-provoking dialogues on the interconnected worlds of design and global trade, setting an inspiring tone for the event.
