Vice Chancellor's Message

I am delighted to share that the Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD), a premier institution for fashion and design education in Pakistan, continues to develop and contribute to Pakistan's creative industries.

Over the years, PIFD has produced trained and well-versed designers for respective industries including Fashion Design, Textile Design, Fashion Marketing & Merchandising, Jewellery Design and Gemology, Furniture Design & Manufacture, Leather Accessories & Footwear Design and Ceramics & Glassware Design; leaving a desired impact on the relevant industry and trade. I feel proud to share that PIFD graduates working as entrepreneurs, designers, and creative heads in all fields of design have not only contributed to the creative industries but have also opened doors to career opportunities for students coming from diverse backgrounds.

This progress has been made possible by continuous government support, assistance from stakeholders/industry, and the dedication of professionals in our team. The fact that our partners think highly of us inspires us for the coming year.

In today’s highly competitive global environment institutions need to update the curricula and initiate programmes to cater to present challenges faced by the industry. With new theories, innovations in technology, sustainability, and artificial intelligence, much has changed in the field of fashion and design. The industry can utilize the competencies of design graduates to overcome future challenges through innovative and sustainable design strategies.

Keeping in view the changing educational environment and technological advancements globally, PIFD’s future vision is to foster research, innovation, quality, collaboration, and inclusivity. It aims to train and educate human resource to play a key role in the economy of Pakistan and become responsible global citizens by inculcating the values of compassion, engagement, and purpose.

To materialize this vision, I am pleased to share that PIFD has recently added four new undergraduate programmes as well as two new graduate programmes. The graduate programmes, Master of Design (M.Des) and Master of Science (MSc) in Design Management will commence this fall.

Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (PIFD) not only fosters industrial collaboration but also has strong linkages with international counterparts for training, workshops, exchange programmes, exhibitions, webinars, and conferences. It introduces students to future ethical strategies needed to sustain and compete locally and internationally.

PIFD is more than just an institution; it’s a community dedicated to nurturing your talents and guiding you toward your aspirations and prosperous future. I welcome you to embark on an educational journey with us so that you can be a part of our design community.
