Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design organized its first-ever Furniture Symposium on November 8, 2023. Prof. Hina Tayyaba Khalil, PIFD Vice Chancellor graced the occasion as chief guest. The symposium brought together experts from academia and industry, besides an overwhelming number of students.
The symposium focused on best design practices in education and industry, impact of technology in the furniture sector, craft practices and, most importantly, curriculum revision. Creative work of PIFD students was also put on display at the event.
The first panel discussion on education and experiential learning in furniture design was attended by a diverse cohort of panelists from furniture design industry. Whereas, in the second session themed around sustainable craft and technology in furniture design, the area experts shared a dialogue how furniture design could be viewed at the intersection of craft and technology to curate a future of possibilities.
